Faith Shakti Heyliger Cedarholm
Harlem-born Poetess, Storyteller, Producer, Author, Editor, & Educator
Born into the sacred gifts of meditation, mindfulness, chanting, dancing, and love, I believe the arts are vehicles for healing, manifestation, transformation, adaption, and connection. It is through the arts I have discovered my own multiplicity. It is through the arts that I have found and learned to love myself.
A graduate of New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, I created and defended my concentration: Celebrate Multiplicity Reintegrating the Self through Creative Presence—a practical, philosophical, psychological, and historical investigation into the split self and holistic methods of healing through the presence of the arts. I am an advocate for artistic expression as a basic human need. At Gallatin, I cultivated an interdisciplinary lens that aims to energize narratives across the spectrum.
As a writer, I work with words that leap off the page, insight profound feeling, and invoke presence: the result is sensational, self-aware, and dualistic wordplay that bridges the philosophical gap between Eastern and Western Traditions falling somewhere in between poetry and prose.
As an editor, I have the inspired ability to bring voices into their true potential. Praised for my critical feedback and keen eye, I provide a unique perspective, which cuts to the core of any project while paying utmost respect to the author's vision and voice. From the first draft to the final review, I conduct a comprehensive study of the work leaving no stone unturned in the quest to elevate my client’s writing to its highest potential.
As a teacher, I am a firm believer in Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences and a courageous advocate for mindfulness practices in and out of the classroom. I acknowledge the whole child and respect the diversity of learning styles found in my students by catering to the needs of the individual. I believe creativity is our greatest resource and that the Arts are catalysts for renewal.
On August 20th 2020, I successfully completed a fundraising campaign to self-publish my first book The Love Letter, a visual poem illustrated by Rasa Vaišvilaitė now available. I am also working on my first poetry collection, a novel, a children's book series, an age-progressive series, and a tarot collection.
In addition to a lifetime of creative writing, I have over 8 years of editing and office/administrative experience, 10 years of hospitality and customer service, 12 years of educational experience as an English tutor and SAT Teacher, and 20+ years of artistic experience working on several film, theatrical, and commercial productions as a Stage Manager, Actor, Stylist, Producer, Production Assistant, and Creative Consultant.
Energized by conversation, I thrive off collaboration and always seek to empower others.
